The Free Congress Foundation 12/20/97

           What an honor it is to address the Free Congress Foundation. At a glance "Free" reads as a verb rather than an adjective. "Free Congress." Not a bad directive for Mr. Clinton. Anyway.

I like it when the party of Lincoln honors our free heritage. This nation has been blessed by the minds and mettle of many good people, and indeed Abe was among the best. A man of great moral character a trait often lacking among our leaders. This is disturbing, but not without remedy. One good election can correct such ills.

Above all, I hope those of us gathered here tonight have more in common with Mr. Lincoln than just party affiliation. Better that we grasp a common vision that simply wear the cloak. Even our President pretends to be a conservative when it suits him. We must be more than that.

I know it’s not easy. Imagine being point man for the National Rifle Association, preserving the right to keep and bear arms. I ran for office, I was elected, and now I serve as a moving target for pundits who’ve called me everything from "ridiculous" and "duped" to a "brain-injured, senile and crazy old man."

Maybe that comes with the territory. But as I have stood in the crosshairs of those who aim at Second Amendment freedom, I have realized that guns are not the only issue, and I am not the only target. It is much, much bigger than that, which is what I want to talk to you about today.

I have come to realize that a cultural war raging across our land storming our values, assaulting our freedoms, killing our self-confidence in who we are and what we believe.

How many of you own a gun? A show of hands maybe?

How many own two or more guns?

Thank you...

I wonder how many of you own guns but chose not to raise your hand?

How many of you considered revealing your conviction about a constitutional right, but then thought better of it?

Then you are a victim of the cultural war...

You are a casualty of the cultural warfare being waged against traditional American freedom of beliefs and ideas. Now maybe you don’t care one way or the other about owning a gun. But I could’ve asked for a show of hands of Pentecostal Christians, or pro-lifers, or right-to-workers, or Promise Keepers, or school vouchers-ers, and the result would be the same. 
What if the same question were asked at your PTA meeting? 
Would you raise your hand if Dan Rather were in the back of the room with a film crew?

See? You have been assaulted and robbed of the courage of your convictions. Your pride in who you are, and what you believe, has been ridiculed, ransacked and plundered. 

It may be a war without bullet or bloodshed, but with just as much liberty lost: You and your country are less free.

And you are not inconsequential people! You in this room, whom many would say are among the most powerful people on earth, you are shamed into silence! Because you choose to own guns affirmed by no less than the Bill of Rights. But you embrace a view at odds with the cultural warlords... If that is the outcome of cultural war, and you are victims, I can only ask the gravely obvious question: What’ll become of the right itself? Or other rights not deemed acceptable by the thought police? 
What other truth in your heart will you disavow with your hand?

I remember when European Jews feared to admit their faith. The Nazis forced them to wear yellow stars as identity badges. It worked. So what color star will they pin on gun owners chests? 

How will the self-styled elite tag us? 
There may not be a Gestapo officer on every street corner, but the influence on our culture is just as pervasive.

Now, I am not really here to talk about the Second Amendment or the NRA, but the gun issue clearly brings into focus the warfare that’s going on. Rank-and-file Americans wake up every morning, increasingly bewildered and confused at why their views make them lesser citizens. 

After enough breakfast-table TV hyping tattooed sex-slaves on the next Rikki Lake, enough gun-glutted movies and tabloid shows, enough revisionist history books and prime-time ridicule of religion, enough of the TV anchor who cocks her head, clucks her tongue and sighs about guns causing crime and finally the message gets through: Heaven help the God-fearing, law-abiding, Caucasian, middle class, Protestant, or even worse admitted heterosexual, gun-owning or even worse NRA-card-carrying, average working stiff, or even worse male working stiff, because not only don’t you count, you’re a downright obstacle to social progress!

 Your tax dollars may be just as delightfully green as you hand them over, but your voice deserves a lower decibel level, your opinion is less enlightened, your media access is insignificant, and frankly mister, you need to wake up, wise up and learn a little something about your new America! And until you do, would you mind shutting up?

That’s why you didn’t raise your hand. 
That’s how cultural war works… And you are losing.

That’s what happens when a generation of media, educators, entertainers and politicians, led by a willing president, decide the America they were born into isn’t good enough any more. So they contrive to change it through the cultural warfare of class distinction. 
Ask the Romans if powerful nations have ever fallen as a result of cultural division. There are ruins around the world that were once the smug centers of small-minded, arrogant elitism. It appears that rather than evaporate in the flash of a split atom, we may succumb to a divided culture.

   Although my years are long, I was not on hand to help pen the Bill of Rights. And popular assumptions aside, the same goes for the Ten Commandments... 
Yet as an American and as a man who believes in God’s almighty presence, I treasure both.

   The Constitution was handed down to guide us by a bunch of wise old dead White guys who invented our country. 

Now some flinch when I say that… Why?

It’s true! They were White guys.
So were most of the guys that died in Lincoln’s name opposing slavery in the 1860s.

So why should I be ashamed of White guys? 

Why is "Hispanic pride" or "Black pride" a good thing, while "White pride" conjures shaved heads and white hoods?

Why was the Million Man March on Washington celebrated as progress, while the "Promise Keepers March on Washington" was greeted with suspicion and ridicule? 

I’ll tell you why... Cultural warfare.

   Now, Chuck Heston can get away with saying I’m proud of those wise old dead White guys because Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan know I fought in their cultural war.
I was one of the first White Soldiers in the civil rights movement, long before it was fashionable. In 1963 I marched on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King to uphold the Bill of Rights. As vice-president of the NRA I am doing the same thing.

    But you don’t see many other Hollywood luminaries speaking out on this, do you? It’s not because there aren’t any. It’s because they can’t afford the heat. 
They dare not speak up for fear of CNN or the IRS or SAG or ATF or NBC or even W-J-C. It saps the strength of our country when the personal price is simply too high to stand up for what you believe in. 
Today, speaking with the courage of your conviction can be so costly, the price of principle can be so high, that legislators won’t lead and citizens can’t follow, and so there is no army to fight back. 
That’s cultural warfare.

For instance: It's plain that our Constitution guarantees law-abiding citizens the right to own a firearm. But if I stand up and say so, why is the media assault on me such a slashing, sinister brand of derision filled with hate?

Because Bill Clinton’s cultural warriors want a penitent cleansing of firearms, as if millions of lawful gun owners should genuflect in shame and seek absolution by surrendering their guns.

That’s what is now literally underway in England and Australia! Lines of submissive citizens, threatened with imprisonment, are bitterly surrendering family heirlooms, guns that won their freedom, to the blast furnace. If that fact does not unsettle you, then you are already anesthetized, already a victim of the cultural war.

You know that I stand first in line in defense for free speech. But those who speak against the perverted and profane should be given as much due as those who profit by it. 
You also know I welcome cultural diversity. But those who choose to live on the fringe should not tear apart the seams that secure the fabric of our society.

I’ve earned a fine and rewarding living in the motion picture industry, yet increasingly I find myself embarrassed by the dearth of conscience that drives the world’s most influential art form. And I am an example of what a lonely undertaking it can be.

Nobody opposed the obscene rapper Ice-T until I stood at Time-Warner’s stockholders meeting and was ridiculed by its president for wanting to take the floor to read Ice-T’s lyrics. Since I held several hundred shares of stock he had no choice, though the media were barred. I read those lyrics to a stunned audience of average American people shocked at lyrics that advocating killing cops, sexually abusing women, and raping the nieces of our Vice-President. 
The good guys won that time: Time-Warner fired Ice-T.

The gay and lesbian movement is another good example. Many homosexuals are hugely talented artists and executives and also dear friends. I don’t despise their lifestyle, though I don’t share it. As long as gay and lesbian Americans are as productive, law-abiding and private as the rest of us, I think America owes them absolute tolerance.
It’s the right thing to do.

On the other hand, I find my blood pressure rising when Clinton’s cultural shock troops participate in gay-rights fundraisers but boycott gun-rights fundraisers and then claim it’s time to place homosexual men in tents with Boy Scouts, and suggest that sperm donor babies born into lesbian relationships are somehow better served and more loved.

Such demands have nothing to do with equality. 
They’re about the currency of cultural war, money and votes and the Clinton camp will let anyone in the tent if there’s a donkey on the hat, a check in the mail or some yen in the fortune cookie.

Mainstream America is counting on you to draw your sword and fight for them. These people have precious little time and resources to battle misguided Cinderella attitudes, the fringe propaganda of the homosexual coalition, the feminists who preach that it is a divine duty for women to hate men, blacks who raise a militant fist with one hand while they seek preference with the other, and all the New-Age apologists for juvenile crime, who see roving gangs as a means of youthful expression, sex as a means of adolescent merchandizing, violence as a form of entertainment for impressionable minds, and gun bans as a means to lord-knows-what!
We have reached that point in time when our national social policy originates on Oprah. 

     I say it’s time to pull the plug…

    Americans should not have to go to war every morning for their values. They already go to war for their families. They fight to hold down a job, raise responsible kids, make their payments, keep gas in the car, put food on the table and clothes on their backs, and still save a little to live their final days in dignity. 
They prefer the America they built where you could pray without feeling naïve, love without being kinky, sing without profanity, be White without feeling guilty, own a gun without shame, and raise you hand without apology. 
They are the critical masses who find themselves under siege and long for you to get some guts, stand on principle and lead them to victory in this cultural war.

Now if this all sounds a little Mosaic, the punch line of my sermon is as elementary as the Golden Rule: In a cultural war, triumph belongs to those who arm themselves with pride in who they are and then do the right thing. Not the most expedient thing, not what’ll sell, not the politically correct thing, but the right thing.

And you know what? Everybody already knows what the right thing is. You, and I, and President Clinton, even Ice-T, we all know. It’s easy. 
You say wait a minute, you take a long look in the mirror, then into the eyes of your kids or grandkids, and you’ll know what’s right.

   Don’t run for cover when the cultural cannons roar. Remember who you are and what you believe, and then raise your hand, stand up, and speak out. Don’t be shamed or startled into lockstep conformity by seemingly powerful people. 
The maintenance of a free nation is a long, slow, steady process.

And it’s in your hands!

Yes, we can have rules and still have rebels, that’s democracy. But as leaders you must do as Lincoln would do, confronted with the stench of cultural war: Do what’s right. As Mr. Lincoln said, "With firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us finish the work we are in and then we shall save our country."

Defeat the criminals and their apologists, oust the biased and bigoted, endure the undisciplined and unprincipled, but disavow the self-appointed social engineers whose relentless arrogance fuels this vicious war against so much we hold so dear. 

Do not yield, do not divide, do not call truce. Be fair, but fight back.

   It’s the same blueprint our founding fathers left to guide us. 
Our enemies see it as the senile prattle of an archaic society. I still honor it as the United States Constitution, and that timeless document we call the Bill of Rights.

Freedom is our fortune and honor is our saving grace.

A Call to White Americans 
   Today's White American faces a frightening and uncertain future. As his race falls from majority to minority status, he often fears losing his place in the world. All around him, persons of other races raise the flags of their mother nations, adorn themselves with traditional costumes, and celebrate ancient and invented holidays as expressions of their ethnicity! Generally, he has no one flag to raise except the Stars and Stripes. In the great melting pot, before the salad bowl conception, his ancestors put aside their ethnic differences and intermarried: Irish and Italian, English and French, Polish, Dutch, Swedish or German, all mingled over the generations to produce the white American. He lost his ethnicity, and retained only his race. During his father's generation, that was enough: his father had a strong identity as an American. His father had an American history, an American mythology, an American set of values. He celebrated American holidays and ate American foods. Above all, he knew what it was to be American: the American identity needed no definition. Now, in the salad bowl era, the American identity has no definition. America has no one history, no one value system, and in the current conception should not. The American nationality has been reduced to mere citizenship, the common fabric of American life unraveled to a single thread. And so the white American drifts, his group identity reduced to nothing but a passport and a color - a lack of color. Blanc, Blank. On that blank white page of his withered identity, many people write their stories. The white American child learns he is the son of rapists and enslavers, murderers and thieves, liars and hypocrites. The accomplishments of his ancestors and brothers, he is told, belong to the entire world: the guilt of any white criminal belongs to him and him alone. Among all the races, ethnicities, and other variously defined demographic groups, the white American alone cannot feel pride in, defend, or even define his racial identity without arousing suspicion and outright hatred. He cannot form a Congressional White Caucus. He cannot hang the works of white artists on a gallery wall and identify them as such. He has no month, no week, not even a day set aside to teach his children, his neighbors, and his countrymen about the origins of the white race, ancient and modern white history, the accomplishments of white individuals and the issues facing modern white people. Deprived of his true history and a healthy sense of himself, the white American can turn to either of two extremes. He can fall in with his own slanderers, giving himself over to self-flagellation, with guilt for his tradition and a hair shirt for his ethnic costume; or, he can follow the slanderers of others, substituting hatred of others for love of himself, clad forever in battle gear, paranoid and joyless. Neither path leads to a better future: the responsible white American must blaze a new trail. If we want to live, white Americans must begin today to lay the foundations for our future and our children's future. An individual without a strong group identity, a racial, ethnic, religious or national identity, will be lost like a lone snowflake among glaciers in the near future: we white Americans must rebuild our ruined sense of self. We must raise a fortress to defend ourselves against slanderous attacks: we must create a school in which to teach our children, our neighbors and our countrymen about ourselves. We must clear a festival ground on which to celebrate our achievements: we must plant a quiet grove in which to contemplate the errors of our past. We must remember to leave a door and leave it open to mutually respectful relations with all other people and peoples. Perhaps most important of all, we must erect a freewheeling marketplace where ideas and stories, histories and traditions from all the white world come together, complex and wonderful, diverse and still unified, showing that we are not the white of un-tinted paint but the white of sunlight, formed by the perfect balance of a whole spectrum of vibrant colors. Start today, fellow white Americans. Look at the faces around you: find the faces like yours, and see them as your brothers and sisters. Find the fair-skinned babies, and see them as your children. Think about your great-grandparents and love them as they were. Think about your history, American history, European history, world history, from the weavers of Xinjiang to the poets of Ireland, from the horsemen of the Caucasus to the seafarers of Scandinavia - all of them your brothers! And if the papers insult you today, if a stranger or your neighbor eyes you with suspicion or hostility because of your whiteness, resist the urge to respond in kind. Defend yourself--love yourself--but rise above savage tribal struggle. You are better than that. Tonight, talk openly about being white with anyone. Do it again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. Form groups to discuss issues, trade ideas, and educate one another; however, don't forget to have picnics, play games, and enjoy yourself. This is how we must begin: proceed with joy.

Give the White Man His Due 
Today, if one is to believe the constant anti-White, hate-filled and bigoted Establishment propaganda, the White man is the greatest source of evil and unrighteousness in the world. Waves and waves of this propaganda spread the lie that Whites are always the victimizers, but never the victim, and have meant nothing but ill towards the "always benevolent races," which have surrounded her lands. 

As the propagandists teach, Whites, especially those who would preserve their race, are the lowest form of life on earth, to be despised and persecuted, rooted out and exposed as heretics if they do not toe the Multi-Cultural Party line. With their constant encouragement of race-mixing and cover-ups of genuine cases of anti-White genocide throughout history (the bolshevik revolution, Stalin and the bloody work of his controllers, deportations and murders of millions of Germans after WWII, etc.), it is quite clear to growing numbers of thinking people that the Establishment seeks the destruction of the White race. 

This article is meant to grant them their wish, to suppose that Whites had never graced the lands of this planet with their creativity and intelligence. Where would the establishment be? This effort will merely scratch the surface of White creativity. Indeed, it would take hundreds of pages to detail it all. 

Throughout history, no other people have contributed to the betterment of mankind -of all races- than the White race. The "Aryan mind" has been the source of genius, the prime cultivator of technology, and the driving force of progress. Aryans have always been the source of High Culture. 

There is the work of Archimedes, inventor of the lever and pulley; the Archimedean screw, used to lift water for irrigation; the catapult; and the concepts of hydrostatics and buoyancy, among others. Many other ancients have been responsible for the basic inventions that all succeeding generations have drawn upon, from the wheel to basic math and science concepts. Would you throw it all away? 

The breadth of work by Italian Leonardo da Vinci nearly stuns the mind. His almost workable plans for such revolutionary concepts as the movable bridge, construction crane, a flying machine, the parachute, and other ideas, became realities due to other White contributions to the fulfillment of these ideas. Driving a car or other vehicle, on land or water is enjoyed by nearly all. But for the contributions of Germans such as Karl Benz, Gottlieb Daimler, and Wilhelm Maybach to automobile technology, how far would we go? Daimler and Maybach were the first to invent an internal combustion engine light enough to power an automobile; and that they did, though only with three wheels at first. They had perfected a motor bicycle as far back as 1885, a four wheeled car in 1886, and by 1926 had combined with motor vehicle pioneer Karl Benz to form Mercedes-Benz, "Mercedes" being Karl's daughter. 

German Rudolf Diesel invented the economic and efficient diesel engine. Men like brothers Charles and Frank Duryea built the first successful gas power automobile on American shores. Vincent Bendix's "Bendix-drive" made hand-cranking an engine obsolete. Henry Ford, the father of mass-production, made his Model-T available to the masses and produced the first V-8 engine. Countless others have made critical contributions to modern automotive technology. 

How about the works of other Germans? Rudolf Bunsen invented the gas heater called the Bunsen burner, used in tens of thousands of laboratories and schools, for learning and developing a multitude of ways to benefit our lives. Johannes Gutenberg, as early as the 15th century, developed a movable type mold, first mass-producing the Bible, then other books. Elias Howe invented a practical sewing machine in 1846. Karl von Sauerbronn developed the first bicycle as early as 1816. The Siemens brothers pioneered electric railways and lighting, deep-sea telegraph cables, an open-hearth steel-making process, and greatly improved electroplating procedures. These Germans, and many thousands more, have contributed much to your way of life. 

We all enjoy the ready availability of clothing. Would you do without the works of Sir Richard Arkwright, who, as early as 1769, developed a water-powered spinning machine? Edmund Cartwright and Samuel Crompton also made critical advances in weaving technology. Other Whites have also contributed to the development of the textile industry, which we all benefit from. 

Enjoy flying? Would you do without the Whites who invented the airplane, who developed it through its infant stages? The Wright brothers, Samuel Langley, Glenn Curtis, and others began the process. Frenchman Henri Coanda, developed the first airplane to run on a jet propulsion system and, in an entirely different vein of inventive genius, developed a way to convert salt water to freshwater by using the energy of the sun. Multitudes of Whites have contributed to these amazing industries. It would take volumes to detail them all. 

How about feeding the masses -not only of our own country- but other nations? Where would we be without John Deere's basic, revolutionary steel plow? Cyrus McCormick invented a reaping machine which is largely credited for the 19th century revolution in agriculture. Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin which helped the South stand on her own two feet. Michael Cudahy developed cold-storage for meat packing, quite a revolutionary and healthy concept. There are many more where those came from. We not only feed many other nations, but give them machinery and teach them so they may one day provide for themselves. Would they have come up with these things on their own? Thousands of years of their bleak history say otherwise. 

Whites have also done wonders for the fields of communication. Would you prefer that Samuel Morse had never invented the telegraph, or Morse code; or that Alexander Graham Bell had never invented the telephone? Edwin Howard Armstrong discovered a concept known as frequency modulation. Those of us who are technologically illiterate know this as FM radio. Walter House Brattain, John Bardeen, and William Shockley developed the transistor, and shared a Nobel Prize for it. Italian Guglielmo Marconi invented the wireless telegraph. Lee De Forest improved wireless telegraphy, and revolutionized radio broadcasting with his invention of the triode vacuum tube, an item which is now basic to long distance radio and television communication. Nicholai Tesla also made dramatic improvements in the field of radio communication. 

How about that inventor of inventors; White man extraordinaire, Thomas Alva Edison, who - to this day - is unsurpassed in the number of U.S./International Patents issued. He and his White staff invented and improved on many of our staple inventions, such as motion pictures, telephone transmitters, typewriters, electronic generators, the mimeograph machine, and phonograph. He and Tesla invented such modern necessities as the electric light bulb. Enjoy flipping a switch and reading at night? You've got White men to thank. 

Here are just a few of the many other Whites who have contributed to invention. Robert Fulton built the first steam-powered river boat, and helped develop early submarine and canal technology. Enjoy taking and looking at photographs? We have pioneers such as Edwin Land and Belgian-American Leo Hendrick Baekeland to thank. After Englishman Dr. Dunlop's initial discoveries Charles Goodyear perfected the process of vulcanized rubber, thus allowing for longevity of tires. Percy Spencer invented the microwave oven. Nicholai Tesla and Willis Carrier both made critical contributions to the air-conditioning process which makes all of our lives easier today. Many Americans cannot imagine what life would be like without air-conditioning, and they've got White men to thank. Peter Cooper built the first American steam locomotive, the Tom Thumb. William Burroughs developed the first adding and calculating machines, forerunners of many, many things to come, including the cash-register. 

Let's not forget those White men who developed early computer technology; like Vannevar Bush, who built the first analog computer in 1930, Blaise Pascal, Charles Babbage, George Boole, and countless others who have contributed to this modern marvel that has touched all our lives. 

What would life be like without all of these inventions? Better? Would any of the above exist? Well, don't be a hypocrite. Throw away all your technology! Go build a lean-to in the woods and try, just try, to live like the primitive cultures. See if you can. Remember what has happened to every nation . . . when Whites have left. What if there were no White people on the face of this world? Would you now destroy the White race? There are other inventions and inventors, countless others. This paper has only scratched the surface, and has not even made an effort to delve into the enormous White contributions to art and cultural history. 

White history is indeed glorious, and it is time White children started looking into it. It is high time we gave the White man his due!
